First Study Visit to EMUNI Marks Key Milestone in MORHEL Project for Moroccan Higher Education Leadership

21 participants hailing from various Moroccan universities attended the first study visit to the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI) as part of the Moroccan Higher Education Leadership (MORHEL) project. The participants engaged in a series of informative and interactive sessions that aim to further the project’s objectives.

In attendance were esteemed representatives from three countries, notably Al Akhawayn University-Morocco, serving as the project’s coordinator, the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, the University of Granada-Spain, the UniPegaso University- Italy and various Moroccan members of the MORHEL consortium.

In his welcoming speech Pr. Abdelhamid El-ZOHEIRY, EMUNI President, extended his warm welcome to all participants who have contributed to making this project a reality. Pr. El-ZOHEIRY also confirmed that this study visit is not just a gathering of minds; it is a convergence of aspirations, a confluence of ideas, and a catalyst for change. It is about enlightening discussions, sharing good practices, and cultivating the seeds of leadership that will shape the educational landscape of Morocco.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Karim MOUSTAGHFIR, Assistant Vice President at Al Akhawayn University, expressed his gratitude to EMUNI and all of its constituents, led by Pr. Abdelhamid El-ZOHEIRY, for the warm welcome, hospitality, and unwavering dedication to supporting the participants and providing a platform for collective intelligence and fruitful exchange. Dr. MOUSTAGHFIR underscored the significance of this inaugural study visit as a key milestone in the MORHEL Project’s journey.

It is worth noting that from September 28th, 2023, to October 2nd, 2023, the comprehensive agenda for the visit featured a diverse array of activities, including panel discussions, workshops, project updates and networking opportunities.

The schedule of this visit unfolded as follows:

  • An opening session: (i). a training session about « HEIs Leadership Development: Public versus Private. », (ii). a moderated round table discussion, exploring « HEIs Leadership in Private and Public Sectors: Which is More Long-Range Oriented?« , and (iii). a workshop on the development of the National Center for Leadership Development (NLDC) and the certificated National Leadership Development Program (NLDP);
  • Visits to many institutions: the University of Ljubljana, the University of Maribor – Faculty of Organizational Science Kranj, the IEDC – Bled School of Management, the University of Primorska and Faculty of Humanities in Koper, and the Trieste University – Contamination Lab.

Within the framework of the MORHEL project, a second study visit is scheduled to take place at the University of Granada, Spain, from November 6th to November 10th, 2023, in order to enhance the project’s commitment to international collaboration and leadership development in Moroccan higher education.
